Hi there, I’m Marie
Project manager. Parent. An expat living in Paris, France.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn't part of our long-range plan. Like many relocation stories, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores seemed more complex than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt secure.
Why I Built CalmValleyNest
Most information online tended to be either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism material. What was missing was a candid, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to fill that void — practical advice drawn from real life in France.
What This Site Does (And Doesn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from residing in France
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in France goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue recording our discoveries.
If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, please feel free to get in touch.
Best regards,
Marie
